Mohair Silk Dreams Come True with Brand New Soyeux by La Bien Aimée

Mohair Silk Dreams Come True with Brand New Soyeux by La Bien Aimée

Oh là là! There’s a brand new silk mohair in town from La Bien Aimée and we’re chuffed to bits to be the very first shop to carry it!

Soyeux literally translates as “silky”, and we can’t think of a better way to describe this gorgeous new yarn. With a mix of 36% silk and 64% kid mohair, this base feels even more luxurious than the original LBA Mohair Silk (which is now on sale to make room for these new skeins — more on that later). We already have 39 really lovely colours of Soyeux and we’ll be adding to this collection with more hues in September.

These moody hues would add a lovely halo to any project.

As with the original Mohair Silk, Soyeux knits up wonderfully held single or double with another base. Still a traditional laceweight, the yarn has a slightly thicker silk core and a stunning halo, making it fantastically soft on its own and really taking bases like Merino Singles or Cashmerino into the stratosphere. (We always recommend a gauge swatch, and for those who have used LBA Mohair Silk in the past it’s probably a good idea to re-swatch to get a sense of this yarn’s weight.)

PetiteKnit is probably the most prolific designer using mohair silks, and Soyeux would suit any of her classic patterns. We also love the Turtle Dove Shawl by Sari Nordlund, which holds a strand of mohair silk together with Gepard Wild & Soft. And Midori Hirose’s Ranunculus sweater is a clever piece that can be knit in a variety of yarn weights and with a variety of sleeve lengths, so you could hold Soyeux single for an open-knit, summery piece or pair it with a fingering or worsted weight yarn for a heftier drape.

If you’re looking for more inspiration for what to knit in Soyeux, LBA’s original Mohair Silk, or any of the other gorgeous mohair and silk blends we sell at Loop for that matter, look no further than Loop shop manager Carole’s latest work in progress: Sophie Ochera’s Djo sweater. This eye-catching piece shows off just how fun mohair can be!

Yarns on Sale

There’s noting we love more than scoring incredible deals on stash staples, and right now at Loop that’s just what we have. Our remaining stock of LBA’s original Mohair Silk is marked down to £28.00 (originally £39.50), all of our skeins of LBA Tough Sock are on sale for £24 (down from £33.75), and select colours of Madelinetosh Pashmina are also on deep sale (£26 from £39.50). These are some of our most popular yarns (and our favourites to knit) — scoop them up before they’re gone!
