Mrs Moon Plump (L-Raspberry Ripple, Pavlova and Peppermint Cream)

Mrs. Moon was started by sisters Karen Miller and Susan Ritchie and originally started as a bricks and mortar shop in 2009. After several requests from customers for quick and easy knitting patterns, these crafty ladies started penning their own designs. But it had them thinking, ‘Shouldn’t we have our own yarn to compliment these patterns?’. A few years later and Plump was the result – a smooth super chunky single ply yarn, made from ethically sourced Australian merino wool, blended with a soft touch of alpaca.

Karen and Susan knew they wanted the whole Plump palate to work harmoniously and inspire knitters to pair colours with ease. Their inspiration was an old box of tapestry threads that belonged to their mum (a talented maker herself). They tipped the box out on the floor and chose the most joyful colours on impulse and then carefully edited down to fifteen.

The gorgeous Plump colour range is defined by the sisters as ‘chocolate box’ and there certainly is a nod to the sweeter things in life with the edible colour names. Lemon Curd and Damson Jam are joined by Raspberry Ripple and Sugared Almond…delicious!

I’m a bit of a sucker for bright colours but this time I think I’d go for pavlova or peppermint cream as there’s something subtly vintage about them which is appealing. Plus I’d then then get to wear what I make with lots of outfits, which has to be a bonus with such a soft squishy yarn.
