mYak Tibetan Cloud + a giveaway!

mYak Tibetan Cloud + a giveaway!

Wow! We are so excited to welcome the newest mYak yarn to Loop! All of mYak’s yarns are exceptionally soft, with beautiful stories behind them. This week we’re sharing the story behind Tibetan Cloud, which launched a few days ago!

mYak Tibetian Cloud at Loop London
Beautiful colour palette with the Signe Sweater

mYak Tibetan Cloud is 100% Tibetan sheep wool, in a sport/light DK weight. The wool is very ethically sourced, and can be traced back to the flock. The wool itself comes exclusively from an ancient breed of sheep in Tibet. These wonderful sheep are free to roam over the grassland of the Tibetan Plateau, which is over 4,000 metres above sea level!

mYak Tibetan Cloud Sheep
Look at the beautiful sheep that Tibetan Cloud yarn comes from!

The wool from these ancient sheep has been used for centuries to weave incredible rugs and traditional clothing, as the wool was considered unsuitable for more refined uses.

However, thanks to a careful selecting and dehairing process, Tibetan Cloud is the result of using the softest and finest heart of the wool, creating a beautifully lightweight yarn that is super soft and bouncy – it really is like knitting with a cloud from the Tibetan sky. It is equally as pleasurable to wear!

mYak Tibetian Cloud at Loop London

The Tibetan Cloud yarn is closer in characteristics to baby yak or cashmere, rather than wool, as it is incredibly lightweight and warm.

As with mYak’s other beautiful yarns, the aim is to give the thousands of years old nomadic lifestyle an opportunity to prosper and thrive in modern times.

Loop is exceptionally proud to stock mYak. We are so happy we’re adding the Tibetan Cloud to our selection. We have 16 colours of Tibetan Cloud now online and in store! Pictured above are 9 of our favourite colours – but every one is so beautiful, it’s hard to pick favourites!

The Signe Sweater

The lovely jumper shown here in our photographs is the Signe Sweater by Marianne J. Bjerkman, in the colour Callicarpa for the main and Wild Daisy for the contrast colour in the yoke. We also added Isager Silk Mohair in Natural White and Au Ver A Soie Metallic Thread in pink to the colour work. This gorgeous sample was knitted by one of our talented Loopettes, Valerie!

Now for our giveaway news…

This week we have an amazing giveaway over on Instagram and here on the blog, which we are running with Paola of mYak – thank you Paola! We will be giving away not one but TWO sweater quantities of Tibetan Cloud! (One each to two different people, 5 skeins per sweater quantity.) The yarn will be in our favourite colour, Callicarpa, which we used for our Signe Sweater!

This giveaway is open to everyone, no matter where you live. If you are entering on Instagram, all you have to do is follow both Loop and mYak on Instagram, and repost Loop’s photo of the Tibetan Cloud using the hashtag LoopLovesTibetanCloud.

If you are entering here on the blog, all you need to do is leave a comment below.

The giveaway will close on Wednesday 23rd October (midnight GMT), and we will announce the winners here on the blog and on Instagram on Friday 25th October. We are running this giveaway for two weeks because it’s such a lovely one!

Good luck everyone! We hope you love the Tibetan Cloud as much as we do!

EDIT: This giveaway is now CLOSED.

One more wonderful thing…

This week we are also sharing a small piece from Susan, the owner of Loop; Susan was recently featured on the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000 list – a list of London’s most influential people! What a wonderful honour for Susan and her amazing shop!

“I woke up in the night in Kyoto to a friend messaging me that I was on the list of the “Progress 1000” – a list honouring what the Evening Standard Newspaper considers to be the most influential people in London.
To be on the same celebrated list as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, our Mayor Sadiq Khan and the amazing guys of Led by Donkeys is mind blowing for me and a real privilege. Truly astonishing, and I feel so incredibly proud about it. Me and my wool shop – who would figure?! I hope that part of including me on this list was paying homage to the part Loop has played in fostering community through craft and textiles. In celebrating beauty, in helping other women and small businesses build their own kind of vision and seeing the best in others – seeking out other talented people and helping them do what they do best, standing on our shoulders to move forward in their own direction.”

The full post about this can be seen on the Loop Instagram page.

  1. I can’t find anything on the way to participate in the giveaway via the blog. My instagram account is private, so that is not an option.

I love the mYak Tibetan cloud, that is a certain thing!

    • Hi there.
You’re completely right and we made a mistake with the terms as we did want to offer a winner both here on our blog and on IG. We’re going to change the copy right away.

    • This is so delightful that you write about this, I’ve always wanted to knit with this yarn, so far it’s on my list. The sweater you show is beautiful! So happy I get your wonder newsletter which is always a delight.
      Thank you

    • What a truly beautiful array of colour to delve into. I would love to be included in the chance to be so lucky to be able to cast on with pure luxury simply exquisite ❤️

    • Hi,

Not sure I am leaving my comment in the right place, but would love to be included in your mYak giveaway competition.

” 25th of October is my birthday, I am a ‘wanna be’ fabulous knitter, I love it, it is so cathartic & incredibly rewarding to watch a piece grow. So far I have not been brave enough to buy a sweater quantity of beautiful yarn to tackle a project like this one, however, I would dearly love too. I am totally addicted to the beauty of fibre and the wonderful, touchable, shareable creations it leads us too. I love your blog, I have shared it with my crafty friends and we save it up to sit with, in a quiet moment and dream about a time in our lives when we will have the time to just sit and knit. Congratulations on your inclustion in the ‘hottest 1000’, all power to handicrafts and time honoured creating.”
      Thanks Tanya

    • The clouds of this yarn are fabulous. I would so love to win some if the callicarpa. Dusky pink is one of my favorites too.

  2. I was waiting for the blog participation too as I have changed the way I use Instagram. I have been with Loop and mYak and was waiting for this Tibetan Cloud but don’t feel comfortable with Instagram for this.
I would post a finished sweater knit in this luxury wool, if only blog entries were eligible as promised

    • Hi there.
You’re completely right and we made a mistake with the terms as we did want to offer a winner both here on our blog and on IG. We’re going to change the copy right away.

  3. All the mYak yarns are so gorgeous but budget means it’s not an option for me at the moment. So it’s such a shame the giveaway is only open to people who use Instagram. Given the ethical credentials of the yarn, it would be great to have an ethical (i.e. non-Facebook related) way of entering giveaways.

    • We amended the terms and it is of course also open to one winner on our blog.
Please see the edited text but your comment here will count as an entry.

  4. I’m sad about the blog post entry opportunity not being here too. I also have a private Instagram account. I know these contests are really about marketing, but it still seems unfair that you have to give up your privacy to potentially win some amazing yarn.

  5. When did it become an Instagram only entry was the norm here? I have a private Ig account and have actually stopped using it for a year… I have been a keen and loving customer of Loop for a very long time and always will be I’d imagine… what a shame that only Instagram users can participate! From Loop, it surprises and saddens me.
I’d suggest one of the incredible prizes should go to each platform.

If you aren’t on Instagram you don’t exist!?! Arghhhhh

    • Hi there. You’re right and it was a misunderstanding when writing the final post when I am away in Japan so could not see the final copy.
You’re completely right and we made a mistake with the terms as we did want to offer a winner both here on our blog and on IG. We’re going to change the copy right away so there is also a blog winner.

  6. What a fabulous Giveaway the Tibetan Cloud it looks & sounds Devine :)…and so lovely to know it’s a quantity to cover plus size like myself I’ve become more aware of the importance of plus size since I’ve been unwell and taking high dose steroids So thank you for your awareness

  7. How can “This giveaway is open to everyone, no matter where you live.” and require an Instagram account? I don’t have an Instagram account and do not plan to acquire one.

The yarn does look lovely, though!

    • Hello, we made a mistake and the giveaway is also available here on the blog. We have now changed the copy. So sorry about this. Your comment will be counted in the giveaway!
