New sets of linen threads for Loop

New sets of linen threads for Loop

We are so thrilled to have some new sets of Linladan’s wonderful 100% linen thread!

You might remember the beautiful Nordiska vintage threads we had a few weeks ago from Tanja of Linladan in Sweden.

This thread is Lyster linen and is the same weight as the vintage linen threads. Each box has two kinds of the Lyster linen threads. One is a soft ,even thread and the other a slightly firmer more fibrous thread. They are all incredibly beautiful.

We have put together a range of amazing colour palettes for you.  Each set comes in a specially printed Loop box in collaboration with Linladan for our 15th Anniversary.

Linen threads have traditionally been used in embroidery for household linen and modern textile artwork. Linen is a soft and strong thread and will still look beautiful years from now making it ideal for creating special heirloom pieces.

They have a gorgeous lustre to them and the colours are just stunning!

Textiles Transformed :Thread and thrift with reclaimed textiles

A new book by Mandy Patullo has arrived at Loop and we are all swooning over it!

Mandy Patullo is a textile artist based in the UK. Her work is based on collage techniques and she makes a conscious effort not to buy new fabric but repurpose the range of beautiful existing pieces that can be found everywhere.

“I treasure the old and worn, refashioning vintage textiles into new collages which are embellished with stitch and appliqué. I re-cycle and reuse very old and often disintergrating materials which have been passed on or discarded. I particularly like to cut up and unpick utility patchworks and quilts made by women in domestic settings. I consciously relate to the thrift and ‘make- do and mend” culture of past times as well as folk art traditions and techniques.”

Textiles tranformed is an incredible resource of photographs and projects that perfectly demonstrate how fabrics and textiles can find a new and repurposed life. Get ready to be inspired to transform and cherish your most loved textiles.

And some very exciting news, Mandy will be joining us at Loop to teach a workshop in April!  We are so looking forward to this and we’ll keep you posted with details soon.

Life in the Long Grass

We have had another delivery recently of Life in the Long Grass in all the bases . We love this yarn!

The colour palette is full of earthy and neutral tones along with the classic variegated hand-dyed speckles. As the name implies, the colour palette references the beautiful Irish landscape of County Cork where the dye studio is based.

Pressed Flowers Shawl

We are completely captivated by Amy Christoffers shawl pattern called Pressed Flowers and have been swatching with the Life in the Long Grass Merino Sport and the Uncommon Thread Bfl Sport / Light DK .

The pattern is written for a DK weight yarn but the slipped stitch technique is very forgiving of gauge. The sportweight makes a perfect substitute and the fabric is incredibly squishy and soft. Of course we also have lots of beautiful DK yarns to choose from and the beautiful and versatile Tôt le Matin Sport Plus would make a great choice as well.
