Pom Pom Quarterly’s Autumn Issue

Pom Pom Quarterly’s Autumn Issue

Pom Pom Quarterly Autumn 2018 at Loop London

The new Autumn issue of Pom Pom Quarterly is with us now. Issue 26 is themed around the moon; think inky skies, stars, dark evenings, spheres, luminescence, and quiet. There are some striking projects in this issue!

Luna

We can’t wait to get Luna, by Anna Strandberg, on our needles! Anna is the maker behind hand-dyed Dandelion Rosy Sport yarn, a beautifully soft, organic Merino yarn with saturated colours. Luna is a futuristic but feminine pullover using brioche in-the-round, knit from the top down, with tailored shoulder detailing.  It’s mostly knit stitiches but with enough fun things going on for a supremely pleasurable knit. And of course it’s knit with Rosy Sport! It’s what Anna says she’d wear if she ever went to the moon!

We love her original colourway of Infinite Universe and Delicate Feather so much that we decided to make it into a kit. The kit comes in two sizes and they’re almost gone already! We have more kits coming in the next few weeks. If you want one, it’s worth contacting the shop (phone or email) to reserve one.

However, you may want to make your own colour interpretations. We’ve put together two of our favourite combinations. Each with a near grey: Mountain Climber and Stephanie Says and Loop favourites Salmon Salad and Dirty Gold.

We can’t wait to see what you do!

Hypatia

The Hypatia Cowl, by Carrisa Browning, is another beautiful knit from this Issue. Subtle, mysterious crescent moons polka-dots textured the surface of this luxurious cowl knit in Madelinetosh Pashmina. The magazine version is subtle in Copper Pink and Calligraphy.

But why not try a more striking combination. We’ve taken pictures of some favourites below. Pashmina, with its wool/silk/cashmere content is such a gorgeous yarn that they’ll all look great!

Cerridwen

Cerridwen is designed by Fiona Alice, who also designed our Tuli Cowl pattern and kits. The gorgeous cables flow over an A-line shape that would look great to wear with leggings or a skirt.

Cerridwen in Illumani Amelie Yarn

Cerridwen is knit in Illimani Amelie, a luxurious, soft and light yarn. It is extremely light weight due to the Alpaca content with a beautiful texture and halo, the combination of three fibers using a new technology. It looks very much like the hazy light of a full moon on a cloudy night. We have eleven beautiful colours to chose from.

Class Update

We’ve added some new workshops to our Autumn schedule, including sock knitting and double knitting. There’ll be more classes added over the next few weeks (we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date), including one very special announcement next Saturday.

We’ve had to change our Textile Surgery workshop (embroidery darning) with Sanae Kido from Japan. It has been moved to November 24th. Please take a look on our website for more details.
