Quince & Co. Owl
Loop is proud to be the European flagship shop for Quince & Co. and  just when we think we couldn’t love their yarns any more, along comes Owl. Lofty and light with a slight rustic feel, Owl is a cozy hug of alpaca and wool.
Natural blends take centre stage with a selection from dark tweeds to snowy skies. When over dyed, these natural shades provide the heathered base of the pastel and jewel toned colours.
A blend of wool and alpaca means a sturdy base with a soft halo, ideal for colourwork as the fuzz of alpaca fills any gaps caused by oddities in tension. Plus, Owl is woolen spun, meaning the natural hollow structure of alpaca fibre is persevered thus maintaining it’s loft and bounce. Blocking transforms the yarn beautifully, allowing the fibre to bloom and create a relaxed and drapey fabric.

Hannah Fettig (aka Knitbot) chose Owl as it was the ideal yarn for her colourwork garments in Knitbot Yoked. Inspired by the softer shades, ‘their vintage feel was a natural fit for the collection.’

Melanie Berg, who designed Wintermute for Loop, has collaborated with Quince to create a stunning collection using the natural shades of Owl. Linook, Rikochan, Taine, Talamu and Vouvray show the versatile beauty of a classic neutral shade. If you fancy a pop of colour it’s easy to pair natural colours with the dyed shades with Owl as they compliment each other well!
We’ve also added the most charming garments that have come from the needles of knittings heavyweights. From the moment I laid my eyes on it, Nori was the one. As far as the colour my goodness that is a hard one, Huckleberry is at the top of the list though (Cielo was a close second though).
I really love Elf, and I’d use it to knit up the Talamu shawl with bright stripes of Rosebay running through it.

Araminta would be the pattern I woul like to choose and the colour cinnamon is one that catches my eye. Not very summery but I tend to knit in the summer for winter and vice versa.

Having my first grandchild and parents don’t want to know what it will be ahead of time. So I’ve been knitting in earth tones. I love Acacia and the More better Baby Sock pattern.
So many lovely colours, I picked one, then picked again and again, finding it nearly impossible to choose just one favourite colour I would choose ‘Canyon’ and would love to knit this with the ‘Araminta’ to wear with my favourite duck egg blue coat.

It has to be sokoke, a soft snuggly cardi , oh and a throw and maybe some cushions. A beautiful colour that evokes sweet memories of childhood and a favourite aunts knitted love.
My favourites here are the neutrals! I love how rustic and soft they look. Albertine would be my top choice, although they’re all stunning!

I would knit the Wending pattern using the Acacia colour way. I love the undulating pattern on the cowl and the colour of Acacia reminds me of the sea so the two seem to go together perfectly.
The Vouvray shawl would be lovely and the colour for me on this beautiful sunny day has to be Cielo.

I would like to try to make the Wending design using the Elf colour.
I have never tried any of Quince Co wonderful wools. I keep admiring the designed garments and accessories and could image knitting and wearing most of them. Sadly, it is not easy to save up for a 9 or 10 balls to make myself a gorgeous garment when I don’t want to skip on my boys’ nutrition and they constantly need new shoes or trousers. But I could definitely see myself knitting the cute little Sherwood Mitts in the Chamomile shade. They would be the perfect thing on chilly mornings when doing the school run. The colour looks a bit yellow and a bit green – fresh spring shade of new buds and mowed grass.
I love Kaye’s Cardigan… I would probably want to make it with the main color being Barents Sea.

The Birdie cardigan is a delightfully fresh ‘take’ on colour knitting, and I love to knit yoked sweaters. This pattern reminds me of holidays by the sea with sunshine and soft breezes, so maybe Acacia ……….. or possibly one of the others….I really can’t decide.
