Softness, Sustainability, and Style — Welcoming Gepard Eco Cashmere Vintage!

If you’re looking for something seriously soft that you can also feel great about, we’ve got the perfect yarn for you.

Gepard Eco Cashmere Vintage is a 100% cashmere yarn made from a mix of high-quality new cashmere as well as recycled fibres from yarns and garments that were going unused. The result is a wonderfully wearable DK yarn that your imagination can run away with. This is such a fabulous way to make something sitting idle into something that is truly loved, and to make it even better there are some really excellent patterns already using this base!

It’s no surprise that Sus Gepard, the founder of Gepard Yarn, has released some stunning work in Gepard Eco Cashmere Vintage. Her City Hoodie is the perfect cosy cashmere accessory to wrap yourself up in when the weather isn’t cooperating, and it’s the perfect way to keep warm without inviting the dreaded hat hair, even for wavy, curly, or styled hair. The two options for the hood opening lend themselves to different styles, though they’re both very versatile. The version with a slightly smaller opening looks great as a cowl and still allows the hood to be pulled up for rough weather, while the version with a larger opening is optimised to wear with the hood up. Both options are included in the same pattern. We love this pattern so much we’ve created a bundle for it, which includes three skeins of Gepard Eco Cashmere Vintage in your chosen colour plus a PDF of the pattern and a Loop cotton bag. If you like you can also use 10-15 grams of another DK weight yarn (or a different colour of Eco Cashmere Vintage!) to create a contrast colour face opening and drawstring. For an alternative yarn option, try holding Gepard Pura Lana and Gepard Cashmere Lace together!

And as Gepard is a Danish yarn, it’s only right that the queen of Danish knitting herself, PetiteKnit, has knit up her iconic Sophie Hood in Gepard Eco Cashmere Vintage (the pattern is also available on Ravelry). The “Blood Orange” colour in the Gepard sample of the Sophie Hood is the quintessential Little Red Riding Hood look, and we’re expecting that hue to arrive any day now! In the meantime, we think the other colours of Gepard Eco Cashmere Vintage — whether marled or solid in colour — would also make excellent choices. The other patterns in the famous Sophie range (Sophie Shawl and Sophie Scarf) would also be great in this base.
Amirisu — Assemblage Vol. 1

The lovely folks at Amirisu are back with something brand new! Amirisu Magazine has been on hiatus since late 2023, and now it’s back in a new format. The pattern book series Amirisu Assemblage is stepping up to take the place of the magazine, and Volume 1, out now, is all about gardens and the many ways they enter our lives. Whether you spend hours tending to your own plants or treasure a few stolen moments in a little patch of green amid the city, gardens touch each of us, and these 12 patterns celebrate that. With designers including Lindsay Degen and Inese Sang and patterns for statement garments and stylish yet practical accessories, you’re sure to find something you love!
