Spinning a Yarn with Ricorumi Spin Spin
We’re having a ball with Ricorumi Spin Spin! This delightful yarn from Rico is a hugely fun way to play with colour.
Spin Spin‘s built-in colour transitions make a sophisticated degradé effect super easy to carry out. All you have to do is knit or crochet as usual and voilà! As if by magic, a subtle colour transition makes your project look like quite the feat.
This yarn is especially great for the amigurumi projects in two new booklets from Rico, Fresh Friends and Element Heads. These collections contain tons of fun crochet patterns for little figurines inspired by fruits and vegetables (Fresh Friends) and the four elements (Element Heads). Each one is designed to take advantage of one of the Spin Spin colour transitions.
Spin Spin is a DK weight cotton yarn that comes in 50g balls and can be used for any DK project. We think the colour transitions would be fantastic for accessories like socks and headbands as well as the sweet amigurumi mentioned above. The delicate shades and transitions are also lovely for baby patterns. Spin Spin is available from Loop in individual cakes. We also stock a box set of eight which we’re expecting to receive more of very soon. Don’t forget you can always click ‘notify me when available’ on our website to receive an email when more goodies arrive.
La Bien Aimée’s fabulous laceweight alpaca-silk blend is back in stock at Loop! This yarn is unbelievably squishy and lightweight and we’re so so glad to have more in stock. Aimée Gille of La Bien Aimée designed Kumo (Japanese for ‘cloud’) to make garments that feel as light as air and as fluffy as a Cumulonimbus. It works beautifully on its own or held double with another yarn to make a more substantial but ever so fluffy garment. La Bien Aimée’s entire range of gorgeous yarns would work marvellously in conjunction with Kumo.
More treasures from Sally Nencini! A gaggle of lambswool gals have arrived at the shop: Bridie, Katsy, Molly, Sadie, and Winnie. These playful dolls are all knit by Sally on a domestic knitting machine in her Norfolk studio with wool sourced from a small, family-run business in Scotland. Each doll is kitted out in her own signature dress, and their cheeky winks bring plenty of attitude. They’ll bring hours of fun to kids of all ages (well, over 3) and even grown-ups will find it hard to resist their charms. They do wonders to brighten up a room!
Border Mill North Coast Tweed Box Set
We’re all stocked up on the incredible 50-Colour North Coast Tweed Set from The Border Mill, available exclusively at Loop. North Coast Tweed is 100% pure Shetland wool in a range of hand-blended tweedy colours that knit up just beautifully. This set makes a perfect gift for the special knitter in your life (whether that’s yourself or someone else!) These 50 mini balls are perfect for fair isle knits, granny squares, or just adding bits of colour here and there.
If you’d rather use a yarn whose colours work themselves, we’ve just received some beautiful skeins of Lazy Lion Sock Yarn. This extra soft merino yarn from mulesing-free farms in South Africa is, as the name suggests, great for socks—but it’s also stunning for sweaters, scarves, shawls, and other accessories.
£10 Mystery Parcels Schtickle for Charity
We’ve added a new group of £10 Mystery Parcels to our Schtickle for Charity section! These parcels contain a mix of one-off skeins of luxury yarn. If you’re familiar with our £5 Mystery Parcels this is the same idea, just with finer yarns. Mystery Parcels present a great opportunity to add some really special yarn to your stash while supporting important causes. Our spring and summer 2022 fundraising efforts are supporting International Rescue Committee‘s work in Ukraine.
Have a crafty weekend, friends!
