Viola Weekend at Loop!
We have such exciting news this week as we’ll be hosting Emily Foden of Viola yarns for the release of her new book Knits About Winter, published by Pom Pom Press!
Knits About Winter Book
“Knits About Winter celebrates the quiet magic of a snowy landscape, the meditative joy of creating cosy knits, and the beauty of unique yarn. A collection of 12 knitting patterns by Emily Foden, these designs capture the magic and mystery of winter, all featuring her distinctive hand-dyed yarns.”
Just in time for winter it’s a book you’ll want to snuggle up with! Patterns of all sorts will keep you warm in the chilly months ahead. Interwoven with the lovely patterns are stories of Emily’s studio in Canada, where she hand-dyes her stunning yarns. It makes a beautiful read and you really feel a sense of place in Emily’s writing. A real treasure!
Loop is proud to be the world’s first stockist of Viola yarns and one of only two in the world that Emily dyes for — hand-dyed in small batches, each skein is unique. We will have a limited amount of these very special yarns from Saturday in the London shop and from Monday in our online shop.
We have stock of the bases and colour palette that is used in the book including Merino Fingering, Organic Merino DK and Silk Mohair.
Classes with Emily Foden of Viola Yarns
Emily is also teaching two classes while she’s here — Discovering a Knitted Palette (1 place left on Sunday November 18th!) and Sky Map Wrap & Embroidery. Spaces are very limited, see our Classes page for more info. There might be a very few places available so book online quickly if you’re interested.
Winter Issue of Pom Pom Quarterly
Guest edited by designer Norah Gaughan, the winter issue of Pom Pom Quarterly is a true treasure. Of course, we know Norah very well from our Sous Sous pattern — it was her first independently published pattern after working at Berocco! We are so happy to see this collaboration come to life, and we can’t wait for you to see it in person! Speaking of…
Launch Celebrations
We’re also very fortunate to have the whole trunk show from Knits About Winter in the shop for the next two weeks so try and swing by to see them and try some on.
And please come see our lovely new window designed by Sophie Scott in honour of Viola coming to Loop!
So many good things at the shop!
Isn’t there a clever person who could design a knitting pattern for a PLAIN beanie for laceweight yarn or the gorgeous Viola mohair and silk.I have gone onto Ravelry and wouldn’t be seen dead in any of them (sorry Ravelry ) .
PLEASE ?!?!
