Welcoming Spring Flowers — and a Giveaway!

Welcoming Spring Flowers — and a Giveaway!

Spring has sprung! The birds are singing, the sky is bright, and we’ve even had a few days you might call warm here in London. As we celebrate the vernal equinox it’s official: winter is gone!

With the arrival of spring comes a whole new season of craft, and we’re feeling reinvigorated and inspired to try some new things. So it’s perfect timing for two delightful new spring-themed crochet patterns to come our way! And better yet, they’re both free!

Sweet crocheted Forget Me Nots!

We’re totally smitten with Roseanna Murray’s super sweet Forget Me Not crochet pattern. You may remember Roseanna from her Crochet Heirloom Quilt class at Loop last year. That class focused on making something that would be treasured for generations. Her new Forget Me Not pattern embodies the same spirit: capturing the joys of spring to be enjoyed throughout the year! This little posy is perfect as an ever-blooming decoration for your home or to wear as a brooch or hat pin. It would also make a lovely Easter basket decoration! The pattern is available for free from Loop. All you have to do is add it to your basket and upon checkout we’ll email you the PDF!

Ito Kinu is the lace weight yarn we recommend for Roseanna’s Forget Me Nots

The Forget Me Not crochet pattern calls for lace yarn in at least three different colours, or more depending how many colours of flowers you want to have. The sample uses Ito Kinu, but we have loads of other lovely lace weight yarn to choose from as well!

The pattern for Clover’s Tulips Kitchen Towel is free!

We’re also loving a new spring-themed crochet pattern from Clover. The vintage vibe of the Clover Tulips Kitchen Towel is so fun. We can’t wait to make this the star of the kitchen towel rotation! The pattern is available for free on Clover’s blog and uses US crochet terminology. This pattern uses worsted weight cotton yarn, making it the perfect opportunity to play around with Rico Essentials Organic Cotton. This yarn is available in the lovely neutral “cream” and boasts 36 other lovely colours to choose from for your flowers, stems, and lettering! It could also be fun to use Rico’s So Cool + So Soft Cotton Chunky for this pattern, but make sure you account for the bulkier weight.

Stocking Up for Springtime Makes!

Springtime is the perfect time for a little haberdashery refresh! We have so many gorgeous crochet supplies that would make these two patterns even more of a dream to get stuck into. Choose gorgeous wooden crochet hooks from SeeKnit and Lykke or pick a more colourful option from Knit Pro to match the tones of the season! What brand of tapestry needle could be more perfect for springtime than Tulip? (Ok, Clover is a close second.) Scissors we have in spades, from super funky opalescent KnitPro Folding Scissors (with a convenient carrier bag) to utterly exquisite Sajou Horse and Cart scissors. To save space, try Cohana Mini Scissors! Or stick with the floral theme and choose a sweet Flower Power pair. When it comes to Tape Measures, we’ve got quite a few, but our current favourite is the super cute Loop Special Edition Tape Measure. And when your project is finished, the perfect tool for blocking is the Oprey Crochet Blocking Board Kit. The board and dowels in this kit (which will also work for knit projects by the way) will let you unfurl and uncurl your project, giving it that perfect finishing touch!

Perfect for granny squares and much more — the Oprey Crochet Blocking Board will sort your stitching right out!

Re:Designed Giveaway!

To set off your springtime crochet adventures right, we’re giving away two Re:Designed Project 34 Cases! These are the most wonderful way to bring your crochet hooks and other small needles and notions on the go, and like all the stunning Re:Designed project bags and cases, the craftsmanship is unparalleled. We’re giving away one Project 34 Case here on the blog and one over on Instagram. To enter here, first make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter (you can subscribe in the right column where it says “subscribe to our blog”) and then comment below by Wednesday 26 March to tell us where you’d bring your Project 34 Case this spring (even if that’s just from your craft basket to your sofa!) We’ll announce the winner on next week’s blog. Head over to our post about the Project 34 Case on looplondonloves to learn how to enter on Instagram! Bonne chance!

Embroidering Natural History Motifs with Atsumi

We’re thrilled to have more copies of An Embroidered Book of Natural History Motifs by Atsumi back in stock! This book is truly lovely. It features embroidered patterns of all kinds of plants and animals that have the look of beautiful nature paintings. It’s basically a picture book you can stitch yourself. It first landed at Loop a few weeks ago — and then sold out so quickly we barely had time to enjoy it! We know many of you enjoyed Atsumi’s Embroidered Emblems book when it arrived in January, and we’re so pleased to be able to bring you more of her beautiful work.

Enjoy!

  1. Easy answer! I’d bring it with me from Aberdeenshire to London when I visit my sisters and my favourite shop in London – Loop.
My sisters always need something to be knitted, crocheted or most often – mended.
Looking forward to my next visit.

  2. Project 34 case give away.
My case will come with me as I take my loop yarns and needles around to work on as I go. In The car, to see grandchildren and meet up with friends to knit and chat. I take my work on planes and trains. This year we are planning two trips to Lanzarote. Another to the North of England, Winchester to a forest next week and hope to get to Scotland and Orkney before the winter to celebrate 25 years of marriage.
I even knitted my way through supporting my husband’s 39 radiotherapy sessions at the end of last year. I’m sure people will notice the case, and I can tell them about how LOOP is my favourite onto yarn store.,

  3. I’d take a Re Designed Project Case with me when I visit my mum. Even though she has dementia she always asks if I made the sweater I’m wearing.

  4. I bring a Project 34 case into my room everyday Spring/Summer/Autumn and Winter and rest assured I will have all the essential and precious needles and notions beside me no matter which WIP I am working on. I love items like this and know I would cherish it for years if I was selected to win this prize. Thank you I have subscribed to Loop’s blog and newsletter for years

  5. Even though it’s Autumn here, I would still take my Re: Designed Project 34 case (if I owned one) to the caravan we are lucky enough to be able to use regularly. Knitting, Re: Designed bag, sun, gorgeous view – what else is there to love! And thanks for the opportunity.

  6. I’d use the Re:designed case to safely take my small craft bits and pieces into the garden and be confident about not losing them in the grass!

  7. I’d bring that beautiful case with me everywhere to sneak in a few minutes of knitting every chance I get

  8. So many lovely things to inspire us!! I’d take the Project 34 case with me as I wander the lakes and fells that surround me.

  9. I’d take my brand new re;designed project bags to the woolly gathering show in Edinburgh and tell them all how and where I got my lovely bag from! Loop!

  10. I would take my Project 34 Case when I babysit my delightful grandchildren. It will keep everything safe from little hands and when sleep time comes I can have everything to hand.

  11. I’d bring the beautiful Redesigned Project 34 case, and a WIP, into the garden in the gorgeous spring weather, to workshops I’ve booked in April, and when I have coffee with friends to share our WIP’s , skills and ideas!

  12. I would take my Re-Designed Project 34 case on my holidays this year. Starting with Norfolk, Kent, Copenhagen and Stockholm, then France and Spain- it will become one of the best travelled cases out there!!

  13. I love a well made project bag, especially as most of my out and about knitting is socks and now fair isle; knitting is in the round requires attention to packing and a range of notions to keep track. I always have to carry knitting wherever I go. But mostly I’d be travelling to my office and I knit to give my head space to think. As a psychotherapist I know how important that is. An organiser to hold notions (stitch marker addict) instead of an old glasses case will make the process much more indulgent!

  14. For me, just the short distance from my yarn storage to my corner of the sofa where I knit – I’m happiest at home with my yarn stash, projects and ALL the cups of good coffee

  15. How beautiful and ‘natty’ is the Re-Designed Project 34 Case! My dear mother-in-law used to use the word natty for for clever and well designed things. Perfect for transporting needles on train trips to fun destinations!

  16. Happy Spring, Loop folks! I’d especially like to bring a Re:Designed Project 34 case with me when I head over to the US to visit my family in June – it would be great for keeping all my knitting bits and pieces organized!

  17. I’d take that project 34 case from my craft room to the beach with a deckchair, a basket of yarn and a flask of coffee x

  18. I would be bringing my Project 34 Case to the weekly home ed gatherings my toddler and I go to. And there will also be plenty of trips to the beach and skatepark as we get warmer weather. It would be a wonderful relief to have all my tools in one place for once – not having to keep on rummaging in my project bag, or worse: having to upturn it and spill everything out, just to find an elusive hook or pencil. :-) Thank you for the giveaway.

  19. Thank you for another inspiring blog. I’d love to take a project 34 case on a train trip to Edinburgh over Easter. My son and their partner are creatives who love knitting and sewing, and they would love to see it. And it would keep my crochet essentials organised on the journey!

  20. On my train journeys to visit my grandchildren each week, as I crochet while I travel and it’s a great conversation starter. So many people want to chat about what I’m doing

  21. I have a group of friends that go to a local park and knit. I would bring the Project 34 case there to keep everything in order as I knit alfresco.

  22. I would bring the Project 34 case from my home in Florida to LONDON! I’ll be visiting for a month in May and always pack some knitting, so I’d be thrilled to pack the case along too!

  23. I would love love love to bring my Project 34 Case to London with me on my upcoming spring trip (of course I plan to stop by Loop while I’m visiting the city!!). My friend and her girlfriend that I’m visiting just started crocheting, so I’d love to practice with them and bring them along to Loop.

  24. I would bring my Project 34 Case to Woolly Good in Edinburgh in April and then to Copenhagen in the summer!

  25. If I won the Re-Designed project 34 case it would be coming with me on the train from North Wales to London and then on a special visit to the Loop shop

  26. Love, love, love the Project 34 case (and all of their other cases.) This would come in handy when going away from home to my 2 knitting groups. It seems like I am always forgetting a knitting notion I need in my project bag! Thank you for giving this beautiful case away.

  27. Project bag from chair to door. From door to craft afternoon at the library. Back to chair and into my hands again. Repeat as above most Wednesdays. From bag on chair into my hands daily, repeat.

  28. I often take projects to work so I can do a little bit in my break or when meeting up with our small crafting group after work. I would take the project 34 with me there.

  29. I would love to win a project 34 case – they are so beautiful ❤️. I would bring it into the summerhouse where I can sit and crochet to my heart’s content ❤️ xx

  30. I would take a project 34 case to the local pub for a lunch meet up with a friend I have not seen in 5 years.

  31. Project 34 cases are just beautiful. I live on a farm in Maine with 11 dogs who want to sneak a piece of everything I own! This would keep my supplies organized and away from their curious mouths! I would love to win one!

  34. I would bring my project 34 re-designed Case on my underground commuting to work as I crochet and knit every day during my commuting journey! So many conversations and comments about the craft, knitting shops in London (Loop of course) and about how to start knitting or crochet (again or from scratch) have stemmed from it! Good luck to all the give-away participants!

  35. I’d take that excellent project bag on Eurostar every time I visit my daughter; there are always repairs waiting for me…and new (unpaid) commissions!

  36. I’d take the case on a trip into my garden, not far but I like too it outside as often as possible and this case us perfect to keep all my bits in one place.
