If you love bright colours, but are not sure about a whole garments worth then the solution is socks! Channel your kaleidoscopic colour love with the amazing Wollmeise Twin, a mix of hardwearing superwash merino and nylon. Above is Emmas’ choice, a Loopette who is as multi-lingual as a skein of Wollmeise is multi-tonal, and just as wonderful! Emma has been prolific in her production of our free Top Up Socks pattern, and we predict many more.

For a more classic look, she is also eager to learn the tricks of fair-isle and would love some of the Eden Cottage Bowland DK to make her own yoked cardigan.
Also keen to develop her colourwork skills is Loops’ super star manager, Jemima. Alice Starmore’s Charts for Colour Knitting is a exhaustive resource of source material and inspiration, suitable for beginners and advanced colour knitters too.

As well as musing on her next colourful knit, Jemima has plans to spend the holidays designing some cosy beaded handwarmers. She’s chosen a skein of the Lotus Cashmere Fingering, the perfect complement to her elegant vintage style.

With her own yarn shop of delights to chose from what would Loops’ wonderful owner Susan want from Santa? ‘I would love a set of all of the grey tones in The Uncommon Thread as I am crazy about the depth of colour in her greys…I love how they look with plum, mauve and yellow ochre colours (of which I have a lot of in my stash!)

Christmas Wishlists At Loop! Shilasdair Luxury DK in Autumn Moors and Skye Gabbro and Silver Stitch Markers. www.loopknitlounge.com Loop, London
Shilasdair Luxury DK in Autumn Moors and Skye Gabbro and Silver Stitch Markers.

Planning her winter knits, Fiona is hoping for a jumpers worth of the beautiful Shilasdair DK. A favourite of many of the staff, this unusual blend of lambswool, cashmere, baby camel and angora has a range of exquisite naturally dyed colours.

Fiona is getting creative with substitutions and thinking about using the Shilasdair for Sous Sous, our jumper pattern by Norah Gaughan. Of course, to keep track of the stitch pattern, she needs some equally smart tools and these silver stitch markers are ideal as a stocking filler for any knitter.

Another lover of our mini Elephants is the charming Marine, who has also fallen for our Cat Tape Dispenser – and who doesn’t deserve a kitty to organise your tape!? Of course if Father Christmas is feeling extra generous, a huge stocking filled with her favourite, Madelinetosh Merino DK would make her very happy too.

Also a fan of Madelinetosh, is Laura, who is inspired by our shop sample of the Bubble Wrap Cowl. This project has an easy slip stitch pattern that is easy to memorise making it perfect for occupying your hands during Christmas telly marathons!

You can either chose to make a 4ply version with one skein of each colour in the Madelinetosh Merino Light, or a heavier weight version that will take two skeins in each colour of the Madelinetosh Merino DK. Laura is considering the Merino DK in Antique Lace and Vishnu – the ideal shade to go with her gorgeous periwinkle dyed hair!

Berroco Ultra Alpaca Aran in 62183 Garnet Mix and 6292 Tigers Eye, plus Knitter’s Almanac- The Commemorative Edition

Sophie is hoping to spend her Christmas curled up with a copy of The Knitters Almanac by the formidable Elizabeth Zimmerman. A year’s worth of knitting ideas and seasonal projects with delightfully informal advice from one of the knitting greats.  Though the jury is still out on whether she will be making November’s suggested project of knitted nether garments.

She would in fact love her next knit be a cardigan in the squishy Berroco Ultra Alpaca Aran. So if Father Christmas has enough in an autumnal colour such as Garnet Mix or Tigers Eye…
