Madelinetosh Unicorn Tails
The saying ‘good things come in small packages’ rang true when a tiny box of delights arrived at Loop the other week.
You certainly know what huge fans we are of Madelinetosh’s sumptuous colours and quality fibres and now we have mini versions of their Merino Light – the appropriately named Unicorn Tails!
Made from the same 100% superwash merino as their big sibling Merino Light, these little twists of 4 ply are 47m (52 yds) of our favourite shades, plus some new colours too.
These neons remind us of the colour in the Muhu Island book we featured on the blog recently (and the good news is we have lots more Muhu Birds in stock). In fact, these mini amounts of yarn are just what you need for a fair isle project. Either incorporate in your knitting or use for embroidery and duplicate stitch on your design.
In contrast, there are some subdued neutrals too…
…and some rich velvet shades, including the firm favourite Tart and newbie Purple Basil.
For those of you who are working on The Bee Keepers Quilt and have a growing collection of Hexipuffs, these mini skeins are just the things to supplement your stash leftovers.
What about using them to make a collection of granny squares? The Babette Blanket crocheted by Juju a couple of years ago, which is still much admired by visitors to the shop, is a inspiring example of how colourful you can go!
Here are some of the new colours that we mentioned!
We think they are a great way to play with colour combinations and swatch your ideas before committing to a garment or shawl. We’ve had fun playing with the myriad of combinations that can be achieved. Why not add a stripe to a shawl or use a different shade for your cast off edge?
Love bright colours, but not sure how a whole shawl would look? Unicorn Tails are just the thing to pair with a darker colour – these neon shade just seem to glow!
You can view all the Unicorn Tails here, plus see the whole range of Madelinetosh yarns we stock here – we can’t wait to see what combinations you come up with!
Happy Knitting!
P.S. Loop is on Instagram! You may have been following our old account so make to sure change and follow us at our new profile – LoopLondonLoves. Just like Saturday morning visits to the sweet shop with your pocket money.
Great start to the weekend! Thanks for the treats.
Such beautiful colours, would love to use them at some stage. Thank you for brightening a dull, drizzly Friday!
