Oshare Pompom Yarn
Autumn is full of exciting new yarns!
Today we introduce Oshare Pompom yarn from Mondo Fil, Japan. The Japanese word oshare is pronounced “oh-sha-ray”, and translates to “stylish”.
Oshare is made up of tiny spaced pom poms on a lace weight yarn. It looks great on its own, knitted loosely or knit together with another yarn to create texture and trims.
Big Bad wool have paired their soft Weepaca yarn with Oshare to create the Oshare The Love blanket. Adorable, easy to knit and snuggle-heaven for a new baby. Look how sweet those little pompoms look on a baby blanket! It’s such a great idea.
We carry Oshare in three colours. The pink and blue are perfect for baby knits.
While this mauve version, carried on a grey thread, would add beautiful texture to a grey shawl.
Each cone is 100g and has a put up of 260 meters /Â 284 yards. It could be knit on its own, on a larger needle to create a lacy, gauze fabric with texture. It would also be wonderful used as an edging on cuffs or necklines, striped with another yarn or knit on its own as a border on blankets or wraps.
Or try it carried along with a wool or mohair yarn. We would love to see a simple infinity cowl in mohair with a strand of the Oshare carried along.
We think this yarn is so much fun and also very beautiful. There are so many possibilities for it within knitting, crochet and weaving. Enjoy Mondo Fil’s Pompom yarn at Loop!

The pink blanket looks gorgeous and reminds me of Spring trees covered in confetti blossoms.
