For a real treat in this new year, we have organised a workshop with the very talented textile artist and author Mandy Patullo!Mandy’s book Textiles Transformed has been especially popular with all of you this past year. It’s no wonder as it such a fantastic resource of information and inspiration for re-purposing our cherished fabrics into beautiful works of art. Happy New Year from all of us at Loop and welcome back! We are starting the new year off with a stunning collaboration between two of our favourite yarns, Madelinetosh Merino Light and Shibui Knits Silk Cloud. At Loop, we’ve been mad for MadelineTosh for many years now. We have over 145 colours in the Merino Light base alone! The Shibui Silk Cloud is one of the most beautiful and luminous silk/mohair blends we’ve come across so having these two come together to create a new palette of 6 beautiful, rich shades of vibrant colour is a dream!

Well, it’s nearly the end of 2020. While most of us are probably glad to see the end of it, there is a lot to look forward to and at Loop, we have been making lots of plans for 2021. We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of the wonderful things we’ve been able to bring you this year as well as thank all of our customers for your incredible support over the last 15 years! This week we are launching a new kit! The Floral KOKON Blouse designed by Teti Lutsak of Nutsknitwear is a stunning blouse designed especially for the beautiful and cosy hand-dyed chunky mohair from KOKON yarns.   We fell in love with this gorgeous sweater as soon as we caught a glimpse of it. The design is a collaboration between two talented women, Teti Lutsak and Michelle Du Plessis of KOKON Yarns. Teti and Michelle were kind enough to give us a little glimpse into what inspires and nurtures their creative passions.

To say it’s been a challenging year is quite an understatement but in some ways it has given us a much needed perspective about what is really important in our lives.  Family, friends and wellbeing in general became a focus and learning new skills that nurtured our yearnings for deeper meaning and lasting connections helped us stay positive. So, although this holiday season may look a bit different for many of us this year, it’s more important than ever to find ways of showing gratitude, sharing love and celebrating what truly matters.

Launching this week are two wonderful new books, Fair Isle Weekend by Mary J Mucklestone and Quince & Co’s This & That; 10 knits to keep you warm and cozy. Both of these books are an incredible resource of inspiring collections of knitwear which will keep you knitting and cosy all through the autumn and winter months. Along with Owlet, a new yarn from Quince & Co, we also have a round-up of some of our favourite yarns perfect for colourwork knitting including a new box set of 50 beautiful colours in The Border Mill’s North Coast Tweed!

We have some new online classes we would like to tell you about this week as well as some regular online workshops with new dates in the diary. We are very excited to be able to welcome Carolyn Bloom from Bloom Handmade Studios to our roster of talented artist-teachers at Loop.

The Fall/ Winter issue of Amirisu “From Land to Needles” is launching next Friday, the 6th of November. We thought we’d give you a sneak peek into some of the gorgeous patterns this beautiful magazine has to offer. And more treasures from Japan have arrived with new stock of Minä Perhonen buttons and fabric swatches!
