Summertime and Flowers Land at Loop
Summer has finally arrived, both astronomically and in terms of the warmer weather we’re finally having in London, and here at Loop all we can think about is flowers!
We are super excited to launch a whole new kit today that combines the talents of some of our favourite crafters and collaborators. The Floral Cookie Scarf Kit takes a pattern designed by PetiteKnit in Denmark, knits it up in a gorgeous Dimond Laine yarn from Washington state in the US, and adorns it with a stunning embroidered design by Hamburg-based Judit Gummlich using a special set of Au Ver a Soie wool threads curated by Loop. Nothing could be better than this international melding of craftwork!
PetiteKnit’s Sophie Scarf has become one of the most knit patterns around for good reason: it’s a straightforward pattern, it knits up quickly, and once finished it’s a super stylish and versatile piece. Adding a stitched motif by Judit Gummlich from her book Embroidery on Knits puts a fabulous finishing flourish on this already awesome piece, and we truly find that Dimond Laine’s Elmer Fingering is one of our favourite bases for the Sophie Scarf (and we’ve made a lot of different versions). And when it comes to embroidery materials, nothing quite touches Au Ver à Soie — they have more than 200 years’ experience making amazing threads!
Those of you who were lucky enough to get your hands on our super special limited-edition yarn bundle featuring Dimond Laine Elmer Fingering will know how fantastic it is to work with. A rustic blend of merino and cashmere, there are few other bases with this excellent combination of loft, texture, definition, and slight halo. This yarn is rarely sold outside The Lamb & Kid on Bainbridge Island in Washington state, so you can imagine how chuffed we are to be able to bring it to you again in another very special package!
The Floral Cookie Scarf Kit contains 50 grams of Dimond Laine Elmer Fingering in the colour “Cookie”, a pack of Au Ver à Soie threads, and a Dove of Peace Project Bag. You’ll also need the Sophie Scarf pattern and Judit Gummlich’s Embroidery on Knits, which contains a template and instructions for the “Floral Crest” motif as well as 17 other nature-inspired patterns and advice on how to plan your own stitch patterns for embellishing your knits. It’s definitely worth the investment!
Flora Brooches by Sophie Digard
Meanwhile, Sophie Digard has been dreaming up her own flower magic. Linen petals, a hand-crocheted leaf, and a thread-wrapped stem combine to make these works of beauty. Sophie has been making exquisite accessories in her Paris workshop for the past 25 years, and as is always the case in Sophie’s work, colour is of utmost importance in the Flora Brooch, and this is one splash for your lapel that will last long beyond these warm months.
If you’ve been admiring a Sophie Digard piece for a while, now’s your chance to snag one! We have a small selection of stunning brooches and beautiful merino shawls from previous seasons on sale. Don’t miss out – once they’re gone, they’re gone!
