Textile Treasures

Ander the Lion, Miga De Pan. Loop, London. www.loopknitlounge.com

As well as making sure that Loop inspires you with the most beautiful materials, we also love selecting handmade delights.  From Sophie Digard’s scarves to Julie Arkell’s creatures, we know you appreciate the artistry and skill captured in a well made piece. This October we are thrilled to be part of the Selvedge Winter Fair, so we thought we would introduce you to a few special chaps before you meet them in person.

The adorable lions are hand crocheted by designer Adriana Torres, the creator of Miga De Pan. Adriana brings her creative background in architecture, graphic design illistration and fine art to produce these wonderful toys. Available online and waiting to greet you at the shop, each one unique and hand finished, using traditional techniques to create a fresh and contemporary outcome.

Either with stripes inspired by vintage shades, or the classic neutrals, each Ander the lion contains a rattle and has a soft vanilla scent. Made with pure cotton thread making them soft as your favourite t-shirt, his chunky legs are just waiting for little fingers to grab hold!

Not just lions in the Miga De Pan menagerie, there is also Matemtico the Fox, with a chunky tail and little grin and (maybe our favourite) Farnesio the Elephant.

Like all the other Miga De Pan creatures, Farnesio is filled with washable stuffing and there is just something about his rotund shape that makes him extra cuddly!

You may have noticed the crochet blanket that makes such a complimentary backdrop for these toys. It is of course, another Miga De Pan design, the Leonor Blanket made with the same soft cotton in gorgeous sea greens.

Another  handmade crochet delight is from the Swedish Littlephant. These quirky characters have been cheering up the corners of the shop and have nearly all found homes. The rabbit Nina plays a little tune when you pull her tail and comes gift boxed, ready for all ages to play with.

Or how about a giant companion? We fell in love with these cuddly character bean bags and knew you would too! Stable enough to stand alone, they make a charming feature in a childs nursery with arms and ears that contain little jingle bells.Littlephant Red. Lopo, London. www.loopknitlounge.com

From bean bag sized to pocket sized, we cater for all! These tiny crochet elephants (also from Miga De Pan) aren’t in the shop just yet, but will be coming with us to the Selvedge Winter Fair,  along with lots of other treats. We will have an abundance of beautiful gifts as well as knitting & crochet beauties for you and loved ones.

Held in the historic Chelsea Town Hall, Loop will be at stand A6, joining over 100 designers and small companies on the 31st October and the 1st November. The fair will be brimming with handmade treasures and textile goodies, making it an ideal occasion for gift shopping or to source materials for your own projects.
