The Elliott and May Studio Brings the Colours of Nature to Loop!
In early June we brought you a Tiny Tassels Kit and mini skein bundles of gorgeous naturally dyed yarns from the studio of Elliott and May. Now we’re over the moon to bring you a stunning selection of their bamboo and linen blend skeins à la carte!
Katie May is the wonderful crafter behind Elliott and May. With the birth of her son, Elliott, Katie found a new dimension of her lifelong passion for making. With life taking on a slower pace, she found herself called to create in a more natural, organic way. She began knitting and soon made a foray into plant dyeing.
The incredible, earthy tones Katie achieves in her bamboo and linen blend yarn are all the result of the idyllic Dorset countryside where she lives. The fields and hedgerows of this southern English county are the source not only of her inspiration but also of her dyeing materials.
We love everything about this yarn. Bamboo and linen are both sustainable fibre sources, and knowing they’re dyed using natural materials and slow, considered processes means there’s absolutely nothing to feel iffy about in these skeins. Plus, it knits up gorgeously. The stitch definition is out of this world and the resulting garments make great year-round pieces. Pick up your Elliott and May skeins today!
More marvellous designs by Minä! These sets of super special fabrics by the Japanese designer Akira Minagawa of Minä Perhonen are always a special treat, and we never know just what fabulous mix we’re going to get. As part of Minä Perhonen’s quest to minimise waste and make sure each exquisite detail they produce gets used for something beautiful, these fabric swatches are produced from the offcuts of their main fashion line. The result is a serendipitous and totally unique selection of artfully decorated pieces of cotton, voile, and silk blends that are perfect for quilting, patching, adding your own embroidery, or frankly even just framing and putting on the wall! They’re perfect little pieces of inspiration.

This book shows you how to turn simple stitches into artful triumphs, giving new life to your very favourite garments and fabrics by turning them into stitched adornments like brooches or buttons. We can’t wait to get stuck in!
Kits for everyone’s favourite patchwork-style rabbit made entirely with stitches and designed by the incredible Tomomi Mimura of Mimstermade are on their way to us! Mimster Rabbit Kits are available to preorder now ahead of their arrival at Loop in late July or early August. The “mosaic-style” embroidery that is Mimstermade’s signature gives this rabbit her distinctive, colourful look, and the kit is the perfect way to try your hand at this technique. This batch of kits has an updated instruction booklet and everything you need to make this stitching project as easy as possible: fabric printed with the pattern, Mimster yarn, cotton filling, even a needle. All you’ll need to have is an embroidery hoop and thread to stitch the sections together.
Spincycle Dream State in Two New Hues
The spinsters are at it again! Rachel and Kate of Spincycle have sent us Dream State in Dark Side and Levitate, and they couldn’t be more different or more beautiful. Levitate’s powerful pop of bright colours is like the white hot days of summer, while Dark Side’s toned down hues have a bit of coastal breeze about them. We absolutely adore both of these colours (and really everything Spincycle does). As anyone who has used these yarns before will tell you, these colour transitions are seriously fun and will keep you knitting for hours!
Happy stitching!
