Mistletoe Garland Free Crochet Pattern

Mistletoe Garland Free Crochet Pattern

It may seem a bit early to be thinking about Christmas, but if you want to hand-make some decorations, now is a good time to get started, before the real craziness begins. We have a lovely free crochet pattern as an early Christmas gift for you.

These Mistletoe and berries can be made up into a garland, added to a wreath, or turned into pins which can decorate gifts, as well as sweaters!

Mistletoe Garland in Lino

We’ve made the mistletoe in our BC Garn Lino yarn, using one ball each in colours Ln33 beige, Ln60 dark green, Ln61 silver olive.

These colours look very sophisticated with neutrals or red as a backdrop.

We used a 3mm crochet hook. As well as our regular crochet hooks, we have a few very special handmade ones from Furls left.

We love a beautiful tool, so we’ve ordered some more special handmade hooks to come into the shop between now and Christmas. We’ll keep you posted on those.

You could change the colour of the berry or hanging thread to our Lino L38 Red if you want more of a festive feel.

We like to make Pins to adorn the top of Holiday presents. Pinned to a ribbon, tied around a wine bottle, they personalise a hostess gift for parties.

This lovely crochet pattern was designed for us by Erika Huesler, who came from Switzerland to do an internship with us last spring. Thank you Erika.

  1. Lucky enough to catch the greens and ivory yarns, have just rushed back for the red! Thank you for a lovely and versatile project :)

  2. This is a gorgeous pattern, do you know when you’ll be getting more stock of the colours listed in the pattern? TIA

  3. Hi there, I love your website and all your designs. I downloaded the Mistletoe Garland and am placing order for the yarns to make it with the natural garland and the red berries. When do you think you will receive the natural yarn for that garland pattern? I’m wondering if I should wait to place the order for other colors when you think you your stock will be replenished with the natural.
    Thanks a lot, MaryElizabeth Calais

    • Hi MaryElizabeth. We have just placed another order with the supplier of that yarn so, hopefully, any day now. Thank you for your very kind words about our website and designs. x

  4. Beautiful idea!

I’ve not worked a pattern that works along both sides of the beginning chain before, but am giving it a go (should be ready by next Christmas!).

Silly question, but for the leaves, I’m assuming you hook under 2 loops in each chain along the first half of the leaf as usual. After the last chain has been worked in the forward direction, which loops do you hook through for the return chain stitches? In some of the photos in the pattern pdf it looks like it uses just the 3rd (as yet unused) loop, rather than through 2 loops?

Also what should be the length of the leaves if using the yarn and hook as per the pattern?

  5. Hi Erika,
I love all your patterns. I am new to your website. I would like to download the pattern for your mistletoe garland, but I can’t figure out how to do it. I click on free pattern link, but I end up where I started. Please help!
    Thank you,
    Judy

  6. Lovely!!! Lovely!!! And more Lovely by the inch. I get such a happy feeling when I look at loopknitting on line. I have a large collection of Koigu that delights me. Even in a skein it is art and happiness.

  7. I’m making the garlands as gift. I’m can see how you chain to pick up the leaves as you crochet the garland I don’t see how you get back up to the garland from the leaf. You aren’t crocheting back in the chain from leaf to garland line and it doesn’t look like you are tying off at the leaf and reattaching and weaving in to continue on the line. What am I missing.
    Thank you so much.
This is a beautiful garland and how different each cluster can look from another.

    Donna
