In Print at Loop

Making MagazineThe ever growing independent magazine scene has some new delights that we’re now stocking! It’s such a wonderful thing that people are taking to self-publishing – we are so happy to support it by having these amazing new publications for you to enjoy at Loop!

When Making first arrived, we were astonished to see it vanish off the shelves in less than a day! But it really is no surprise as this beautifully curated magazine is such an inspiring treat. Brought to you by Carrie Bostick Hoge of Maddermade, Making is a collection of projects, including knitting, crochet, quilting and embroidery and the theme that ties these all together for this issue is Flora.

Making Magzine - Flora
“The act of making helps to connect us to the past, knowing that many craft skills were practiced daily out of necessity. We also connect to our present, as we stop to slow down and enjoy the work at hand, leaving behind the stress of our busy days. And, possibly at the heart of our creations, is the future. As the sweater we knit or the blanket we quilt becomes an heirloom for our family to use, enjoy, and pass down to the next generation. Circling back and tying us to the past. All these connections are equally important and help to bring meaning and value to the beauty and utility we make.”

Another publication we’re excited about is Knit Wit, which is all about the modern craft movement with a focus on fibre, textiles, and the community of makers involved. It’s a publication for anyone with a curious mind, a love of design and an interest in people.
Knit Wit features articles of a certain outdoorsy feel for this issue, starting with cover star Maura Ambrose who grows or forages all the dyes with which she creates fabric from hand-stitched quilts.
Of course, we have our regular favourites like Pom Pom Quarterly, Amirisu and Oh Comely.

And one final thing, don’t forget to vote for us in the British Knitting Awards 2016! Thank you to all of you who have voted – and if you haven’t yet, please show your support now by clicking on the image above. Thank you!

Happy Knitting and Crocheting! x
