Strolling Down the Garden Path with New Welcome to My Garden Mitts!

Strolling Down the Garden Path with New Welcome to My Garden Mitts!

This week we’re welcoming to Loop a brand new kit for the “Welcome to My Garden Mitts” and just like the winter bulbs they represent, they’re the perfect piece of joy to knit on a winter’s night!

Designed by Laura Menéndez, owner of the yarn shop Mimosa Cafe Lanar in Asturias in the north of
Spain and knit with Biches & Bûches Le Petit Lambswool, these mittens are soft yet rustic and oh so lovely. They’ll warm your heart, they’ll warm your hands, they’ll warm the winter! Laura designed the Welcome to My Garden Mitts based on the winter bulbs in her garden. Just a bit of colour and hope at this quiet and dark time of year. The joy they’ll bring will be just like the joy of winter flowers, even if you don’t have a garden to grow them in.

There are so many ways to customise the Welcome to My Garden Mittens

The Welcome to My Garden Mitts Kit has two options: a mitten version or a fingerless version. Both are included in the PDF pattern, which will be emailed to you when you buy the kit. This pattern has fabulous support, with videos explaining the different techniques. The kit includes one ball of Le Petit Lambswool, the pattern, a Loop cotton project bag of course, and a KnitPro wave crochet hook that’s perfect for the flower embroidery.

Speaking of the flower embroidery, the yarn for the flowers is the one bit of these mittens that isn’t included. That’s because Laura wants to encourage you to use gorgeous leftover bits from your stash or special new mini skeins you love. Mohair also works really well for these.

We love the rustic yet soft feel of these mittens!

Best of all, you should be able to get two pairs of mittens out of the one ball of yarn contained in the Welcome to My Garden Mitts Kit. Or instead you can use what you have leftover from the first pair to make some flowers with the main colour yarn.

Winter Holiday Things

December is here and the holiday spirit has fully arrived! We love love love this time of year, especially in Camden Passage, our cosy little corner of London, which always looks so joyful and festive. It’s also a time of year when we have an excuse to give beautiful things to the people we love, or get something extra special for ourselves. Some of our very favourite little haberdashery bits are perfect for this time of year, like The Knitting Barber’s Jingle Bell Stitch Markers, which come in a set of 10 with a candy cane progress keeper to boot. This year we also introduced our Loop Haberdashery Bird Tins with Stitch Markers, which were part of our Christmas boxes and are now available to purchase à la carte. This decorated tin made just for us comes with 10 plain markers and a swallow charm progress keeper, and there’s plenty of room to add your own favourite haberdashery items. And of course nothing makes a knit feel festive like a very special project bag. Our 2023 Loop Holiday Project Bags are on their way now, with our special dove of peace emblem and a festive feel. These are perfect for keeping holiday knits together or to use as re-usable wrapping this season! If you’re still stumped, you can always check out our Gifts section, which has ideas for crocheters, knitters, haberdashery lovers, and more — plus a corner just for Winter Holiday Gift ideas.

Echoes Launches Today!

From Beatrix Potter to Kate Bush, join British knitwear designer Susan Crawford on a journey through 24 knits inspired by the real and fictional women who have influenced her. Echoes is out today from Laine Publishing and we’re thrilled to sit down and stitch with the authors, musicians, activists, gardeners, and more who Susan pays tribute to in this unique volume. With patterns for cardigans, sweaters, vests, jackets, a dress, shawls, socks, hats, mittens, a blanket, and even a tie, this book is a beautiful homage to the continuing impact of others on each of us, and the layers of inspiration that are passed from generation to generation.

We love Sophie’s work so much and it’s always such a joy to see what she can do with the incredible materials she uses.
