All the contributors to our book have a significant connection to Loop and our next two interviewees are extra special as they were both once staff at the shop! Part of a legendary team of Loopettes, we chat to Claire Montgomerie and Rachel Atkinson, to find out more about their patterns that use the luxuriously soft Jade Sapphire Cashmere. As there are two designs, we have two new custom colours, ‘Oh Sweetie Pie’ a blush pink, and ‘Cloud Cuckoo’ a light moon blue.

Whimsical, thoughtful and charming, Julie Arkell’s work gives us a moment to reflect on the magic of making. After the success of her exhibition ‘Away’ at Ruthin Craft Centre last year, we’ve just had whole flock of Julie’s creatures come to visit. Carefully handmade from papier mâché with homely knitted outfits and embroidered details, each has their own personality and story.

Lucky us! Not only do we get a spacious, light and delightful new shop but we get to open it with an exhibition of Julie Arkell’s papier-mache dolls. Julie’s creatures are perking up our windows for the next month! Julie is a friend of Loop. Not in the virtual Facebook sense, but in the Pops-in-to-say “Hi” way.
