Welcoming Uncommon Everyday to Loop!

Welcoming Uncommon Everyday to Loop!

This week we’re celebrating a stunning new addition to our much beloved collection of yarns from The Uncommon Thread. Uncommon Everyday is our latest obsession from this incredible dyer!

Lovely grey tones in Uncommon Everyday: from left to right, “Quiet Folly”, “Olive Leaf”, “London Mist”, “Dark Toast”, “Peat”, “Turbillion”, “Cobble”, and “Charred”

Just over an hour south of London by train is the hip seaside town of Brighton, and there you’ll find the studio of The Uncommon Thread. Since its humble roots as a one-woman operation based in founder Ce’s kitchen, The Uncommon Thread has been committed to upholding the best environmental and animal welfare principles, and of course producing really fabulous yarns. Everything is still dyed by hand, and they’ve thought about their impact at every stage from sourcing mulesing-free wool to making sure all their packaging is biodegradable.

Uncommon Everyday is the latest addition to their wonderful repertoire, and we’re super pleased to have it in the shop. This 100% wool fingering-weight yarn is a dream. It’s super bouncy, knits beautifully, and lends itself to wonderful, rich hues of which we have a whopping 52! This is a great bread-and-butter fingering yarn that covers all the bases. Warm sweaters, colourful shawls, and cosy accessories all look great in this base. It even works for baby items, as it’s soft enough and can be washed in the machine, which we know is always helpful when dressing little ones.

We love this combination of bright and neutral. Uncommon Everyday in “Baby Elephant Walk” and “Hi-Vis Green”.

Uncommon Everyday can either be purchased in full skeins or in a super fun bundle of mini skeins, which includes the colours Meadow Grass, Ripe Plum, Wilted Rose, Fjord, and Nutcracker. All of those colours are available in full skeins too. The mini skeins are great for granny squares, panelled work, or adding stripes or colourwork motifs to your knits. Check out the mini skeins page for more pattern ideas these would be perfect for!

Fill your stash with BFL Singles!

Don’t forget that Uncommon Thread BFL Singles is on sale at Loop while supplies last. This is another really excellent fingering-weight yarn that’s dyed with just as much love as Uncommon Everyday and we’ve adored having it in the shop, but with the arrival of Uncommon Everyday we’re making a bit more space. This is an excellent opportunity to stock up!

New Colours from Lichen and Lace

The lovely new Lichen and Lace colour “Winter Harvest”!

Ooh what a lovely new colour from Lichen and Lace! “Winter Harvest” has arrived this week and it’s available in all the Lichen and Lace bases we carry: Merino Singles, Sock Minis, and Rustic Heather Sport. This delightful tour of golden, lavender, and blush hues evokes mown fields and low skies, and we’re already imagining how we can integrate it into the sock, shawl, and home textile patterns in our to-be-knit pile.

From left to right, “Plum Jam”, “Pumpkin”, “Lavender”, “Citron”, “Peach”, and “Black Walnut” in Lichen and Lace’s Rustic Heather Sport base

We’ve also received a selection of new colours in Lichen and Lace’s Rustic Heather Sport. Running the gamut from moody “Plum Jar” and “Black Walnut” to bright “Citron” and “Pumpkin” with a lovely pastel “Peach” in the middle, we’re sure you’ll find a use for these new hues toute de suite!

Enjoy!

  1. Can you tell me if you do any books of patterns for these glorious skeins of fingering yarn jumpers or shawls- anything really.
I cannot cope with trying to follow patterns on the phone !

    • Hi Roz,

A lot of our patterns are available in print rather than as a PDF. When that is the case they’ll usually have a note at the bottom that says “please note this is a printed pattern, not a PDF”. That means we’ll mail you a lovely printed copy of the pattern that you can keep to hand while you’re knitting.

Some good examples of this for fingering weight patterns are the Pinwheel Mitts, the Two of Daisies Lil’ Scarflette, the Pop Spots Shawl, the On the Spice Market Shawl, and others on our 4-ply/Fingering pattern page (https://loopknitting.com/collections/4ply-fingering-patterns)

You can also check out our huge selection of books and magazines in the “In Print” section of the website (https://loopknitting.com/pages/in-print). If you’re able to come visit the shop, we can help you select one that has a good selection for your gauge!

      Hope that helps!
