Brand new La Bien Aimée Kumo and a giveaway

Wow! We are so thrilled to have received this amazing new yarn from La Bien Aimée!

Kumo is their newest, and softest and squishiest, base. It is incredibly lightweight, and the blend of Suri alpaca and silk makes it soft enough to wear next to your skin. We are giving away two skeins, one each to two different people, this week so read on to find out more!

This is a laceweight yarn, and so can be used as a substitute for silk mohair yarns. Like silk mohair, you can use a wide range of needles, from around a 3mm all the way up to a 6mm!

You could knit it as a single strand, or hold it together with another strand of yarn to create a super cosy and fluffy garment.

Aimée of La Bien Aimée says:

Kumo 雲 stands for cloud in Japanese. Inspired by my recent travels to Japan, I felt inspired to bring an alternative fibre to our yarn line that will give you the feeling of wearing the lightness of clouds. This is a great yarn to hold together with any of our fingering weight bases to create a lusciously soft fabric for your shawls and garments.

We would recommend this yarn for sweaters, just imagine how soft they would be! See the list below for some great patterns to consider for your Kumo

  52. Yellow. The stuff of magic. In Summer it reflects our sunlight. In winter it provides that shot of color. I love it. And a sunlit cloud from LBA seems like a dream.

  53. The colour of the Yellow Brick Toad skein would go so so well with a skein of red-orange-brown sari silk I have. The two of them would make a great shawl, along with a more muted burnt colour. I’d love to be able to pair them up and get it going on my needles!
