Gift Ideas for Sock Knitters at Loop, London. www.loopknitlounge.com
First a tribute to socks – the portable, practical one skein wonder project. It’s no surprise there are so many knitters who love to make and wear them! First find inspiration with a project – sock queen Rachel Coopey has that covered with book ‘Socks‘ and the pattern ‘Hippity Hop‘ which she designed for Loop!

Next you’ll need needles and if you favour double pointed needles, we have it covered! Blue Sky Alpacas Rosewood needles are handmade by artisans in Vitenam, who receive a fair wage for their skilled work. Each size comes in a tin with a different design and colour, so you can collect them all and know that your purchase also contributes to an educational trust fund for the make0r’s children.
We also have bamboo and metal needles from Chiagoo, both in neat zip up cases and also Addi Colibri Lace & Basic Double Points. The unique design feature of these means each needle has one standard tip and one fine point, so you can work with the one you prefer or use different ends depending on the project. Genius! And while we’re on the subject of good ideas, why not invest in some Coil Needle Holders? Use to keep your needles in order when in storage or when on the move.

Of course you’ll need yarn, shown here is The Uncommon Thread Tough Sock Turbillion (our exclusive colour!) with Leaden, plus our custom colour from Madelinetosh in Tosh Sock ‘London Cosmopolitan’. After all that hard work, finish your socks with ease with some sock blockers – not only do they neaten your knits, it allows them to dry much quicker.

Also pictured is a walnut wood needle gauge which includes a handy ruler on the side and all of it is kept tidy in a pretty project bag

Add a pair of chunky 10mm needles and a gorgeous skein or two of on Mrs Moon Plump and you’ll soon have any budding knitter whipping up a cowl over the holidays!

Our selection of beginners books will also get you started and guide you through your first projects. Shown here, Simple Knitting, Learn To Knit Love to Knit, Stitch Encyclopedia, Finishing Techniques for Hand Knitters and Charts Made Simple.

Gift Ideas for Crocheters at Loop, London. www.loopknitlounge.com

And we haven’t forgotten you crochet lovers either. Beautiful books such as The New Crochet and the stocking filler sized Hello Crochet! are full of techniques and inspiring projects. Or use the Crochet Stitch Encyclopedia to guide you though every stitch you’ve ever wanted to know.

For hooks, you can go big with a 25mm whopper from Loopy Mango, or use the ultimate in handmade luxury courtesy of Furls. These hooks are hand carved to ergonomic perfection using the finest materials such as Olivewood and Rosewood.  Or if you know someone who needs to stock up with a hook in every size, the full set of Tulip hooks with their soft grip handles come in a pink roll up case

And to top up your tool kit, the cutest heart shaped stitch markers and a gauge that works for both needles and hooks.

Gift Ideas for Haberdashery Lovers at Loop, London. www.loopknitlounge.com

Now, if there is one thing any crafter has a love of, it’s haberdashery. Threads from Sajou in every shade make sure you have the right colour for darning (with a darning egg!) and embroidering knits, while Wool Soap from Twig & Horn keeps them smelling lovely. Essential tools such as Sajou’s Tape Measure, Rosewood Cable Needles and Sajou Blocking Pins prove that things can be useful and beautiful too. Our selection of buttons (shown here Red Riding Hood, Wooden Mouse, Vintage Pearl and Brown Rabbit) and shawl pins add the finishing touch. And for the knitter who has everything, what about a Vintage Bakelite Yarn holder? Practical, and also a lovely piece of knitting history that looks just charming on the shelf.

  1. So many temptations at Loop this Christmas (and all year round as you are my local yarn shop!)
I would choose one of the pretty project bags and enjoy filling it with a new project made from Woolfolk yarn, my absolute dream yarn.

  2. Oooh, I would love to win the voucher and spend it on one of your books. You habe the most amazing range of knitting books!
    xx
    Sophie

  3. The Loop 10 book is at the top of my wishlist! Plus I’d love to buy a hard copy instead of just the digital version.

I’ve reposted over on instagram too x

  4. My grandmother (91) can’take knit warm woolly socks anymore. So now family members ask me to knit some, as I learned the skill of knitting from my dear nanny. Sock knitting is the one thing I didn’t learn from her. I think Rachel Coopey’s book Socks might be inspiring.

  5. So many gorgeous choices!
I think your entire shop is on my wish list, but if I had to choose something, it would be The Uncommon Thread’s Turbillion in all three yarn weights, I simply adore it!

  6. I’ve reposted on Instagram. I’ll be coming to Loop for the first time in the new year for a workshop, and I can’t wait to have a look around your shop, so a voucher to spend would be wonderful :) xx

  7. I would be so happy to receive this that I’d get some madelinetosh sock in the neon peach colourway so I could finally make my favourite socks out of the Coop Knits socks volume 2 which I love! I’d be ecstatic lol! :p

  8. I’d choose the Loop Hippity-hop pattern by Rachel Coopey! The socks have a lovely pattern and I think the length would be perfect to wear in boots or with my Marten’s this winter :-)
I also love the handmade needle gauge and the bakelite yarn holders, they’re gorgeous.

  9. I just reposted on Instagram! If I get back to Loop (I’m from Germany) I think I would get some Madeline Tosh sock yarn, simply because I’ve heard so much about it :)

  16. Top of my wish list would have to be Uncommon Thead Tough Sock – any colour would make me squeal in delight and the beautiful wooden beehive needle gauge.

  17. Loop makes it hard to pick just one item…you carry so many beautiful handcrafted items…I think it would be the perfect excuse to pick up Furls crochet hook!

  19. It’s such a hard choice! I would really love the Sajou tape measure and one of their beautiful pairs of scissors, and I’ve also been eager to give the new bulky weight of Shalimar Breathless a try. The Uncommon Thread is always such a temptation for me as well… ;-)

  20. When visiting London, Loop is my first stop. I adore being in this wonderful emporium and would be happy to receive anything from it. If I had to choose I would pick a book probably Socks and definitely some knitting notions, I adore collecting beautiful DPNS and interesting needle gauges, not forgetting unique buttons and fastenings, all of which I know I can find under the roof of Loop….and then there’s yarn!

  21. I’ve got the pink beehive floral-top bakelite yarn keeper on my list, and a pair of the Sajou mother of pearl swan scissors (yes, I have expensive taste), along with a sweater quantity of Shilasdair yarn, DK weight.

  22. I love Mrs moon Plump,Loop’s 10 a knitting needle to make one of those beautiful projects. What a lovely gift.

  23. Expensive tastes! A Sophie Digard scarf or a set of Sajou darning threads. Oddly, I find darning really satisfying.

  24. My wish list would include a pair of Sajou scissors…or at least the ability to take a chipmunk (supposed to be chunk – gotta love autocorrect and sometimes leave it in there for the sheer laugh factor:)) out of the full price:)

  25. I love the idea of Blue Sky Alpacas dpns in tins – I always struggle to keep a set of dpns together and a tin would sort that problem. I’m sure there are a few needles sizes I don’t have and could drop hints for for Christmas!

  26. There’s so much to love at Loop, but if I had to choose just one it would be your wooden beehive needle gauges- I’ve been longing for one since I first saw it on “Little Bobbin’s” podcast.

    Greets, Kristina

  32. I have so many beautiful yarns and needles from your lovely shop that it seems greedy to want more. But today is my 60th birthday and I have always coveted Sajou’s Eiffel Tower golden scissors. Just too expensive to buy for myself. Really?? Perhaps a voucher towards them would ease my conscience.

  33. so many temptations…I’ld go for unusual patterns, and anything sajou!
seasons greetings and a great 2016 of making to everyone

    suej xx

  35. Dear Loop Santa, I would like some Mrs Moon Plump yarn in every colour and some beautiful rosewood lantern moon needles please! I have been pretty good (most of the time). X

  36. Merry Christmas to all at Loop
I would just love to sit in your shop all day….but if forced to take something home it would be a sack full of Old Maiden Aunt and maybe some of your staff’s knitting skills would have rubbed off on me too.

  37. I’d love to get some more Old Maiden Aunt alpaca, and something from TUT for a shawl in fingering weight. I’m so besotted with these yarns and Loop is the very place to get them!

    Merry Christmas,

    Marisa
    xox

  38. There’s so many lovely things to chose from, but I’d have to start with shawl pins and then wander into some of the exclusive colours of yarn. I got Loop 10 for myself and have only made one thing from it yet, but it was with the actual yarn used in the pattern (a first for me, I think).

  39. Oooh! Decisions, decisions. Today I would choose either a skein of gorgeousness or maybe an Addi Colibri needle. If you asked me tomorrow it would probably be something else. Thanks for the giveaway.

  40. Would love to add one (in fact both) Loop books. Will be in London from Oz next July so will be bringing them home in my luggage for sure. Would also love to get my hands on some Brooklyn Tweed yarn. Will repost on Instagram if I can work out how!!

  41. After knitting various shawls this year for family members I would love some soft and silky cashmere yarn to do one for myself. Id like to sit down over Christmas in front of the fire and knit away!

  42. I would love to come and visit Loop for a whole day to talk to all the fabulous people who come into the shop and chat about everything that’s amazing about Loop

  43. I wish we lived nearer Loop but whenever I visit London I call and spend a happy hour or two browsing your beautiful stock. If I won your voucher I’d use it to buy lots of shades of Shetland Spindrift wool so I’ll be ready to make some of the patterns from the Shetland book I’m hoping Father Christmas will bring me (I have given him plenty of hints!)

  44. Currently on my wish list are Chiagoo metal circular needles. I wouldn’t say no to more yarn too! Maybe some Madeline Tosh, such gorgeous yarn. x

  45. Too many gorgeous things to choose from in your shop.
But I would love The Uncommon Thread Tough Sock in Turbiliion :-)

  46. Golly, this blogpost is like a smorgasboard of loveliness! I’d be happy with any of these lovely gifts, but I’d love another skein of Viola Fingering in ‘speckled mist’ or those beautiful bamboo DPNs in little tins! I’m yet to embark on my sock journey so I think CoopKnits sock book would be a delight, too.

  47. Oh, if able to simply let my eyes do the shopping, I’d pick the Uncommon Thread Tough Sock in Toast. What a gorgeous neutral that would be a pleasure to knit from cast on to cast off. Happy holidays!

  48. Blimey where does one start….For me, it would be lovely to have a Loop tote bag and inside I’d put the Loop 10’s anniversary book. Then I would be able to plan my new makes for the New Year!. X

  49. I thoroughly enjoyed my class with Juju last weekend but our dash to catch our plane meant no time for shopping, so I need to put your anniversary book on my Xmas list.

  50. Living in Australia I have only visited your shop once and I instantly fell in LOVE with it so I would love a new Loop tote bag, my current one is getting tired I use it every day going to work to carry my knitting on the train. xx
