Many of you will have heard about Wollmeise coming to Loop! We are ecstatic about the news. Our first delivery will hit the shelves on Saturday, November 6th.  Unfortunately, we can’t make this available online, since Wollmeise in known to crash servers. However, we will take phone orders for it on Monday, November 9th between 11 and 4.  We will not take any phone orders over the weekend! I will post availability on the blog on Sunday, so that you know what is left.

Sometimes fashion likes to shout loud! (Okay, all of the time.) This winter it’s yelling about big, bulky knits, Yeti feet and hooded heads. We hear ya, we hear ya! We, at Loop, have taken up our giant needles to make this bulky cowl that you can wear many ways. There are no buttonholes (easy peasy), but the five horn toggles make it possible to button the cowl any way you want; up the front, round the side, or over the shoulder. Wear it as a cape, a shawl, a cowl or a hood. Warm, versatile, quick, easy and fashionable! …

A new workshop has just gone up on our classes list.  Lucinda Guy, author of Crochet Designs for Girls and Boys,  and Northern Knits, will teach how to make authentic Scandinavian mittens using the traditional Swedish twined knitting technique. Lucinda will teach Tvaandsstickat, or ‘two-ended’ knitting, where the knitter uses both ends of the same ball of yarn and then twists the two yarns after each stitch, producing a uniform fabric of double thickness. This fabric which is smooth, firm, and less elastic than conventional knitting makes an ideal base for embroidery and is particularly suited to making mittens and …

We are delighted to announce that we now carry over 100 colours of Jamieson’s of Shetland, Spindrift yarn. We even bought as special case to showcase each of the colours! Spindrift is a 2-ply yarn that knits up like 4-ply. It  is traditionally used for FairIsle knitting. The colour range allows immense potential to play with colour, while the texture of the yarn makes it easy to work up colour patterns. It is spun and dyed in the Shetland Isles from 100% pure Shetland Wool. While many of you may be used to buying Shetland wool by mail, we thought …

Thursday nights are now Knit Nights at Loop! From 5:30-7:30 we will be hosting a knit lounge on the upper floor. Bring your knitting and join us for cake, cookies, tea, conversation and knitting! It’s free, with no need to book, just drop in. (Cake and cookies on sale for a reasonable price). We will also be open for shopping on this evening, until 7:30. Bambi will be joining us for knit nights (and on sale too, but don’t tell him, he thinks he’s one of us).

The pattern above is supplied free by Misti and is available here. One of our most popular winter yarns has just arrived in new autumn colours! Misti Chunky is 100% Baby Alpaca, super soft and warm. It knits up fast, at 3.5 stitches to the inch, and makes a lovely lightweight but super warm fabric. It comes in solids and beautiful handpaints. The new seasons handpaints are already selling quickly. (The pictures will be loaded on our website later this week – but check out Swan Lake CP29 and Falstaff CP27 below.)
