Last night at Loop we had the pleasure of welcoming Eline Oftedal, talented author of Knit Nordic, for a little show and tell. Accompanying her was a cameraman from the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation! We sure gave him a lot to take in as it was one of our busiest knit nights in a long time! We were so inspired by Eline, and the wonders of Scandinavian knitting in general, that we decided to devote today’s blog post to the quite large library of Scandinavian knitting resources at Loop, and some of our favourite Scandi yarns!

We are coming to you live from the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace in London! We’ve set up our stand, and are two days in to this amazing show. It’s been lovely to see Loop customers – both our regulars (you know who you are!) and those of you who have travelled from afar (including California!) for the show. We’re also so excited to be introducing the newest addition to the Loop family, Shalimar Yarns Breathless!

Here at Loop, we are always looking for the newest and best knitting and crochet products for our customers. We attend many trade fairs in England, Europe and America to seek out those special items. We have just come back from our annual trip to the NeedleArts Trade Show in Columbus, Ohio. We attend this show every year to find new yarns and products for the shop. As far as we know, we are the only UK retailer at the show. We ran into a shop owner all the way from Queensland, Australia, but no one from the UK. This …

We’ve got lots of Very Important Knitting People (VIKP, don’t you know?) visiting us soon. Of course, everyone who knits is important, (this goes without saying, no?) but we have some special knitting visitors coming from far and wide! Those of you still in London in August can ignore that silly circus in Stratford; we’ve got Stephen West coming to Islington! Join us on Saturday the 11th from 2-4pm.   This week, it’s all about the boys at Loop. Jared Flood‘s amazing Loft and Shelter yarns finally arrived in stock. People have been phoning us for months, asking when we would get them in. We are the first store in Europe to carry them. Really beautiful yarn, great pattern support, and reasonably priced. We are delighted to have it. We’ve  got some great classes and workshops coming up this Autumn. As well as our usual assortment of beginners, learners and advanced classes we have added specialist workshops focused on particular techniques and held by well know knitters. This weekend Ysolda Teague is teaching two sweater fitting workshops , September 17th and 18th. There are still a few places left on each day!
