The exciting news  of the week is Knit Nation.   We have lots to get ready so we  will be closing at 6pm on Thursday and there will be no knit night this week.  On Friday the 15th, the shop will close early at 4:30, so that we can set up our stand. We will however, be opening the shop on Saturday and Sunday as usual. Saturday June 11th is Worldwide Knit in Public Day. To celebrate everything at Loop will be 10% off on the day (with the exception of class bookings). This includes online orders as well as in the shop. So grab some yarn and needles and go public with your knitting!

Jane Brocket is coming to lauch her new book, The Gentle Art of Knitting, at Loop, on Saturday May 21st, from  2-4pm. Once again, we will have lovely cake and cookies, milk and juice for you all (I’ll see if I can get my son to bake some more of his lemon drizzle cake with ducks eggs). Loop is having a bake sale, March 26th – 27th, to raise money for the Japanese Red Cross. Everyone is invited to bring baked cakes and cookies to Loop, which will be on sale in the shop throughout the weekend. All proceeds go to the Red Cross. Any donations welcome. A new workshop has just gone up on our classes list.  Lucinda Guy, author of Crochet Designs for Girls and Boys,  and Northern Knits, will teach how to make authentic Scandinavian mittens using the traditional Swedish twined knitting technique. Lucinda will teach Tvaandsstickat, or ‘two-ended’ knitting, where the knitter uses both ends of the same ball of yarn and then twists the two yarns after each stitch, producing a uniform fabric of double thickness. This fabric which is smooth, firm, and less elastic than conventional knitting makes an ideal base for embroidery and is particularly suited to making mittens and …

Loop will be at the London Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexander Palace this week. The opening times are 10-5:30, Thursday the 7th until Sunday the 10th (closing at 5 on Sunday). We will be bringing along a delicious selection of our yarns and accessories. To see our full range, plan a visit to our shop while you are in London. You know we love Koigu yarns at Loop! We featured them in our Babette blanket and we have lots of store samples knit in Koigu. Including this sock yarn baby sweater which walked out of the shop, but we loved it so much, we reknit the sample. Well, Koigu love us too and they’re coming to visit! The creative team of  Taiu Landra and Richard Devrieze are coming to preview their book, “Knit from a Painter’s Palette” and show the finished knits at Loop on Tuesday the 5th of October between 5-6:30.
