Thursday nights are now Knit Nights at Loop! From 5:30-7:30 we will be hosting a knit lounge on the upper floor. Bring your knitting and join us for cake, cookies, tea, conversation and knitting! It’s free, with no need to book, just drop in. (Cake and cookies on sale for a reasonable price). We will also be open for shopping on this evening, until 7:30. Bambi will be joining us for knit nights (and on sale too, but don’t tell him, he thinks he’s one of us).
Ahhhh!… Well, we have finally recovered from the fabulous KnitNation- what can we say but that it was the most perfect fair we have done! The size was just right, the teachers and classes on offer were amazing (I even got the wonderful Nancy Bush to inscribe Knitting Lace of Estonian for Miss Juju!) and we met the most wonderful people.
We are delighted to announce that Susan Crawford has written another great book updating vintage knitting patterns. Her new book is called Vintage Gifts to Knit and includes a variety of super cute patterns for smaller items and the whole family. Susan will be signing copies of her new book at our KnitNation stand on Friday the 30th and Saturday, July 31 at 3pm. The book isn’t available yet but we’ve had a peak and we love it! Susan (Loop owner) is knitting a very cute hooded sweater from it, in Madelinetosh Sock‘s new colour, Isadora. Such vintage dreaminess!

Lucky us! Not only do we get a spacious, light and delightful new shop but we get to open it with an exhibition of Julie Arkell’s papier-mache dolls. Julie’s creatures are perking up our windows for the next month! Julie is a friend of Loop. Not in the virtual Facebook sense, but in the Pops-in-to-say “Hi” way. Phew! We are still reeling from the opening of our new shop! We’ve never had a day like it! There were over 130 people waiting in the queue when our shop opened to applause and cheers. (It was very heart warming ~ tears were shed backstage!) Thank you to everyone who came and made the day such a joyous celebration for us! Today, Sunday June 13th, is our last open day on Cross Street. At 5:00pm, we shut shop here, for the last time. Starting tomorrow morning, we’ll be packing our yarn bags and moving to our new shop, in Camden Passage, Islington. I’ll take some sneak preview pictures of our moving this week… just little ones ~ I don’t want to spoil all the surprises. Come for the big reveal on Saturday the 19th! If you haven’t heard already, Loop is moving to a big new shop! All four floors of this Camden Passage building will be ours! Mwaa, haa, haa, haa!!! We’ll miss Cross Street, but Camden Passage, an old antique district of Islington, has its own charms (including hand-made chocolates, vintage buttons and clothing, and The Elk in the Woods). The main reason for our move is to make more space for all the lovely goodies we carry. We are bursting at the seams of our current shop.
