This week we welcomed a new yarn to the shelves at Loop and now the walls of the shop are veritably bursting with gorgeous colour! (Well, they were already, but now even more so!) Madelinetosh Merino Light has arrived and we’re a little obsessed with the 60 colours we have in stock. Rather than go on about how lovely it is, and how it’s perfect for shawls, cardigans, mitts, etc, oh – and how the colour just seems to glow on this base, we thought we’d let the yarn do the talking. So here it is, just a glimpse at some of …

Berroco yarns have been staples on the shelves at Loop for as long as we can remember. Perfect for cosy sweaters and beautiful accessories alike, we also love Berroco for its amazing patterns too. So lucky us, we recently received a delivery of a gorgeous new Berroco yarn, new colours in our usual bases and some stunning new Berroco patterns from one of our favourite designers  – Norah Gaughan! Above you can see the squishibly soft and candy-coloured new yarn, Abode. It’s a thick-and-thin yarn that features an unusual printed effect that allows the natural colour of the merino wool to …

We have recently added  another great British yarn to our shop collection. Beautiful, super-soft and light Orkney Angora – St Magnus. This is a delicious DK blend of 50% lambswool and 50% grade 1 Angora. Stunning! It has the lovely soft halo of Angora but is easier to work with, and has less shedding in this blend.

Read on to find out how you can win some gorgeous BSA Metalico! (This contest has now closed, but keep an eye out for more giveaways in the future! Congrats to Lee, our winner!) The beautifully luxurious yarns from Blue Sky Alpacas have long graced the shelves of Loop and we’re still in love! They are our absolute go-to yarn for gorgeous alpaca softness and to-die-for colours. We were lucky enough to get a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at BSA – with the wildlife of rural Minnesota in the US included – and are excited to share their stunning …

We recently changed our window display – the lovely Sophie and Juju took the lead and made it a showcase of all things happy and bright at Loop! Yarns, ribbons, books, toys and even blocking kits have lit up our storefront on Camden Passage. Just in case you can’t pass by the actual shop, we thought we’d share it with you here! We were very much inspired by a lot of the neon and neutral colour combinations we’ve been seeing recently. Above is the fabulously electric ‘Edison Bulb’ colourway in Madelinetosh Sock. We think it would look great striped with …

Cherry blossoms are starting to appear in London, giving off a wonderfully calm and beautiful presence – could Spring finally be here?! This feeling puts us in mind of the quietly beautiful Habu yarns and Japanese knitting and crochet books we carry at Loop. Based in New York City, but with a heavy Japanese influence, Habu describe their yarns as ‘slow’ materials that give soul to the fabrics they produce.   Habu yarns open up all kinds of creative possibilities and are perfect for experimentation. They come in little bundles, or on cones, wrapped up in simple brown paper.   …

Have you heard of Skein? We had it at Loop last year, but if you blinked, you missed it because it veritably flew off the shelves! We now have a new base yarn in – a seriously luxurious 50% merino/50% silk blend – and we are so excited to have these amazing colours back in the shop! Skein yarns are hand-dyed by Kristen all the way over on the northern coast of New South Wales in Australia. Kristen kettle dyes beautiful fibres in semi-solid and variegated colourways. We love them all, but are particularly fond of the colourways with random …

Here at Loop, we can’t get enough of hand-dyed yarns. It’s not uncommon for us to open a box from one of the lovely hand-dyers whose yarns we stock and gasp in awe of the deep, rich colours they manage to produce. Part of the beauty of their work is that each skein is ever-so-slightly unique, making it that much more fun to choose which ones should go home with you. But it’s not just hand-dyed yarns that we lust after – it’s ribbons, buttons and trims too! The buttons above, for example, come from Barcelona, where the velvet is …

This week we have a special treat for you! If you’re a regular Ravelry user, you will probably have seen that one of our favourite designers, Stephen West, has been hosting a ‘knit-along’ and releasing stunning patterns as part of his Westy’s Besties KAL recently. This week, the pattern being released is the shawl he originally designed for Loop – the Westloop Shawl! Stephen has very kindly agreed to offer the pattern for free to Loop customers who purchase the yarn for the pattern in either Brooklyn Tweed LOFT or or the Isager yarns required for the pattern. Hooray!

Spring is fast approaching and what better way to get in the mood than with some stunning Mulberry silk? Equally stunning in stocking stitch or lace, you’ll enjoy making every shimmery, smooth stitch whatever project you choose!
