Back in March 2020, as many countries around the world headed into their first lockdown, Nathalie Lété took on a project to recognise the importance of small objects in troubling times as a memento, in her description, of “these special days, where little objects, toys, and souvenirs become very important”.
There are few things more artful than a handcrafted textile, and few have excelled in creating them more than Japanese design house Minä Perhonen. We have treasured the brand’s buttons, brooches, and fabric for a long time (as have many of you!) and we are so pleased to have a new line of their popular Toast Bags made just for Loop!
Back in September we introduced the new Yarnadelic range by John Arbon Textiles and announced we were collaborating with designer Florence Spurling to create a special pattern using the yarn. Today the wait is over and we are so happy to welcome the Florence Shawl to the Loop family! Florence’s textile designs are absolutely to die for. She specialises in knitted textiles, embroidery and embellishment. Her studio celebrates traditional craftmanship and aims to incorporate skilled handwork into modern design. Last week a box filled with wonderful new Minä Perhonen buttons, brooches and fabric swatch packs arrived at Loop! We are so excited to have more of these amazing pieces at Loop, what an honour! Minä Perhonen’s fabrics are inspired by folktales, whimsy, drawings and a poetic mash-up of Japanese and Nordic aesthetics.

Minä Perhonen has been a favourite designer of Susan’s (owner of Loop) that has inspired her for many years now, so we are truly honoured to have these beautiful objects in the shop.
