Last week we waxed lyrical about one of our favourite colourwork work-horse yarns, The Grey Sheep Co’s Hampshire 4-ply. Surprisingly lofty, with a silky bloom that doesn’t sacrifice stitch definition, there isn’t much we don’t love about this British-made yarn. The final weeks of August are always so wonderful. As we soak up the last of the summer holidays and begin to look towards the season ahead, there tends to be a bit of respite from the daily grind. And of course it’s a perfect time to start lining up your autumn knits!
The one thing we might love as much as we love fibre is colour and the subtle ways it helps tell stories through craft. This week at Loop we’ve added a load of new colours to our palette from Malabrigo Rios, Laines Vilaines, and Rico Mega Wool Tweed and we can’t wait to knit them up!
A new colour of Mette Mehlsen’s Geranium Scarf Kit called “Anne” celebrates all the most beautiful shades of purple. We of course love all of Mette’s work and this gorgeous shawlette is no exception. Geranium’s mixture of texture and colour really shows off Mette’s fantastic hand-dyeing and the extraordinary organic wool base. All of Mette’s wools are hand-dyed using only the best natural ingredients. The colours she’s able to achieve are really stunning, and their subtleties play off each other so well. Goodness gracious do we have a treat this week. We’re threading our needles with silky, shimmery Lichen and Lace Embroidery Yarn, which is brand new in the shop, and we’ve restocked a ton of stitching books and embroidery goodness to give it a warm welcome.
What a fantastic time we had last weekend at our NONA & Cohana Pop-Up! It was yet another inspiring weekend of craft at Loop and we’re so glad that so many of you could make it. But no need to feel like you’ve missed out if you weren’t able to stop by — we saved some treats for you!
